![]() ![]() My new favorite music player of all time, BlackPlayer EX is available for download on the Google play website, and again IMHO, it has the most elegant UI of any player extant. ![]() It did play all of my higher resolution files, even at 192kHz/24bit which I no longer believe to be worth the extra premium and therefore don't download anything above 96kHz/24bit, and even those are of questionable value to me as of this writing. Neutron was the most frustrating of all due to the absolutely terrible UI. PlayerPro was slightly less boring, but I dropped it for Poweramp when it suddenly stopped working after an Android update. While I had few meaningful complaints about the performance of the three most popular players, I did find that Poweramp, although serviceable and reliable was a bit boring and, at times I found the UI cumbersome. I spent the most time between Poweramp, PlayerPro, and Neutron, but I also tested JetAudio and the stock Google player and probably a few others that were underwhelming enough to have completely escaped me. I have tried several music apps and I generally pony up the nominal fee to get the full version when applicable. This is not really a review, but rather a post to call some - in my humble opinion - well deserved attention to BlackPlayer EX, an app I have recently installed to replace Poweramp on my smartphone, which is my primary music source. ![]()
